Celebrate Your Small Wins

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit our team in Chennai, India. It was a big deal for me because it was my first long haul trip without my daughter and husband. My last business trip was in Paris, France last year and it was only for two days. Initially, I was worried about Chloe and how she would react to me not being home. However, I realised that kids adapt well. Chloe was enjoying her time with her grandma (my mom) and her dad (my husband). I managed to make sure that she was dressed up as Doc McStuffins for “Read A Book” Day. It is a day when kids dress up as their favourite book character. I also had to remind myself that I am being a good role model for Chloe. I am grateful for the team in Chennai who welcomed me and my other colleague, Carolyn, with open arms. Because we were busy attending a lot of meetings; a couple of team members bought me two outfits for Chloe and lovely earrings for me. Overall, the trip was a hit because I connected with the team and showed my daughter that there is a big world. Through hard work; she can get opportunities to travel and make connections.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
