Throwback: Night Out

I was catching up with one of my good friends who lives in the US and mentioned to her that I have decided to have fun this summer. Since the start of the pandemic; it has been non stop for me. My husband and I bought a house during lockdown, had our daughter, and changed jobs. I still cannot believe that I joined a new company shortly after my maternity leave. While I have no regrets in pushing myself; it was definitely a steep learning curve because I had to navigate a new firm remotely, manage a bigger book of work, and ensure that I am supporting and developing my team. In addition to juggling work, we were also dealing with the “realities” of being new parents with no immediate family nearby. That said we made it and our daughter will be starting reception (pre-K) in September. A few weeks ago, I went to a birthday party! It was so much fun to dress up; socialise with friends; and dance the night away. I had so much fun and couldn’t believe that it has been that long since I let my hair down and dance the night away. To be clear, I do not plan to do this regularly because I still had mommy duties the next day but it was a friendly reminder that it is okay to make the time, let your hair down, and dance until your feet or knees, in my case, to sit down. So promise me that you will make the time to connect with your friends and family.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
