The Time Is Always Now

The art tour continues. Earlier in the month, I had the opportunity to check out the “The Time Is Always Now: Artists Reframe the Black Figure” art exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery. Interesting fact with the National Portrait Gallery but if you visit after 5:30pm on a Saturday; you have the option to pay what you want instead of the full price for the exhibition. The Time Is Always Now exhibition is curated by writer Ekow Eshun. It showcases the work of contemporary artists from the African diaspora, and highlights the use of figures to illuminate the richness and complexity of Black life. The exhibition also examines the absence and story of representation as well as the social, psychological and cultural contexts in which they were produced. The power of art continues to amaze me. Art continues to be a medium that can transform our views and expand our understanding. Highly recommend checking it out. The exhibition ends on 19th May 2024. Take the time out and support your local museums.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
