The Storms Do Not Last Forever

The other day I went for a walk and it started to rain. At first I was worried about getting wet but then I thought about the book, How to Live When You Can Be Dead, that I read by the late Dame Deborah James who talked about her desire to enjoy feeling the rain touch her skin so I put things in perspective and reminded myself that my house is only a five minute walk from the train station. As I started to walk home; the rain stopped and there were two rainbows in the sky. It made me stop and take a picture but also serve as a friendly reminder that the storms do not last forever. No matter what you may be going through; remember that this too shall pass. I try to remind myself this even when it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The truth is that life can be challenging; people can and will disappoint you; and you do not have control over the things that will happen to you. The only thing you have control over is your reaction. So remember when you are going through a challenging period; remind yourself that the storms do not last forever and this too shall pass. There will be a rainbow after the storm and this will only make you a stronger person.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
