Team Work Makes The Dream Work

As my time comes to an end in Chennai, India. I am really grateful for the opportunity to connect with my team. While technology gives us the opportunity to connect 24/7, nothing beats being able to travel and to meet with your team in person. I was grateful for everyone making the effort to come to the office, being engaged in the team meetings, and going out with me for a nice meal on a Thursday night. We know that Thursday is the new Friday. Chennai is located in the southern part of India. It is the sixth most populous city in India. The city, Greater Chennai Corporation, was incorporated in 1688 and is the oldest municipal corporation in India and the second oldest in the world after London. I tried all the food that was presented to me and ate cuisines from north and south India. Some of my favourite dishes were pani puri, dahi puri, paneer (in all forms), dosa, samosa chena chard, samosa, garlic naan, and southern India filtered coffee. I also enjoyed how the office is set up. There are many breakout rooms which make it easy to have white board sessions. Team members do not eat lunch at the their desks. Instead, they will go in groups to have lunch, tea/coffee, and dinner together. It made me think that I should do a better Job having more lunches or tea/coffee with my team in London. Typically, when I am in the office, I eat at my desk and work through my lunch. While I realise that we will always be busy; it is so important to ensure that there are opportunities to connect with my team outside of social events. Am grateful for the leaders in my organisation who support work travel. Team relationships will only get stronger when we have the opportunity to connect. So thank you to everyone who welcomed me and made my time really enjoyable. Look forward to welcoming you when you are in London.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
