One Month with No Sugar or Alcohol

So happy to report that I am still doing the 75 Hard Day Challenge. The challenge involves me working out twice a day; not drinking alcohol; not eating cheat meals.; and reading 10 pages a day I must admit that at first I didn’t think that I was going to make it because there are so many temptations. Not to mention that I have a sweet tooth. What I have noticed so far in this challenge is that it is mind over matter. I also noticed that self control is not about putting yourself in situations where it will be hard to stay focused. It is about establishing systems that will promote the good habits. One of the things that I have done is to stop getting off at train stations where I know that my favourite cupcake store, Lola’s, is based. I also eat fruit and nuts instead of ice cream or candy if I want a snack. This month I have been busy attending black history month events; hosting team members who are visiting our office in London; and attending a summit. When it comes to drinks; I chose mocktails or sparkling water. I have been open about this challenge to ensure that people hold me accountable. Some people have applauded me while others wanted me to join in on the fun. I have stayed the course and did not cave into peer pressure. This is mainly because if I cheat then I have to reset the challenge and start again. I continue to see that we have the ability to do anything so long as we are focused, consistent, and determined. I will continue to keep you posted on my journey. Please keep me in your thoughts and know that you can tackle any challenge; you just have to put in the work.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
