Moms Just Want To Have Fun
Last week Friday; Chloe and I met up with a few of her friends and their moms to celebrate the finale of Hi! Street Fest. Hi! Street Fest is Historic England's largest commission as part of the High Streets Heritage Action Zones Cultural Programme, the widest-reaching, community-led arts and heritage programme in the public realm. Hi! Street Fest is a programme of six magical street events bringing people together to celebrate what is special about their high streets. Emergency Exit Arts (EEA), one of Britain’s pioneering outdoor arts companies, worked with residents in six towns and cities to produce colourful street parades that reflect the history and heritage of where they live. Visiting each location will be a large mechanical puppet of a curious fox called Farah. As a resilient fox, Farrah has adapted to our ever-changing environment, much like our own high streets have done over the years. Woolwich was the area that hosted the finale for 2023. We walked with the puppets and I honestly felt the community’s energy. The high street is so important in our community. It supports the local economy and is an oppounity for us to gather and socialise. As an expat for almost 15 years; it is so important to connect with people especially when your family is far away. I am grateful for my nursery mom community. We were able to let our hair down; watch our kids play and take part in the Hi Street Finale. At the end of the day; moms just want to have fun.
