21 Days Without Sugar and Alcohol

I am so proud to share that I have continued the 75 Hard Day Challenge and I have not had any sweets or alcohol for 21 whole days and counting. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a sweet tooth and I love a glass of Malbec or Champagne. It is to the point that I know where all the Lola’s Cupcakes Kiosks are located throughout London and their operating hours. It was also a given that my daily coffee run would include a pastry. It honestly was a habit that was hard to shake. During the challenge, there were many temptations thrown at me but I am proud that I have not caved in. I realised that it is not only about self-discipline but it is also about developing a system that will reduce my temptations. I decided to do simple things such as not buying dessert when I buy groceries or finding alternatives for my sweet cravings by eating nuts or fruit. I have also shared my challenge with family and friends for their support. While going through the journey; I am reading Atomic Habits by James Clear. I realise that good habits can be developed but it requires commitment, consistency, and a framework. I do believe in moderation but I know that I am not at the stage in my clean eating journey to bring sweets and alcohol into my diet. The two items have been my “crutches” when I have been triggered with stress. I am trying to retrain myself to find other ways or things to lean on when I am stressed. I still have 52 days left in the challenge but it is a friendly reminder that your mind is so powerful. If you say you can you will; if you say you can’t you won’t.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
