Light My Path
Every year, I buy a book that has daily readings to start my morning. This year I chose Joshua Dubois’s book, The President’s Devotional. Joshua Dubois served as the head of the Office of Faith Based and Neighbourhood Partnerships in the Executive Office of the President of the United States from 2009 to 2013. Joshua would send then President Barack Obama a daily scripture and lesson. He stepped down from the role in February 2013 to pursue other opportunities such as publishing this book that featured the best devotions sent to President Obama. I am really glad that I chose this book because it helped me navigate 2024 especially when I was dealing with several challenges. This week in my reading, I came across the devotion called Light My Path. It is really a call for God to light my path and to let me follow Him instead of trying to steer myself to a specific path. For years, I have tried to map out how things are going to be and I am finally at a point where I am letting go and asking God to light my path. I do not have the answers but all I know is that I am tired of trying to fight for things when honestly it is time for me to listen and try to understand where is God taking me. So as I continue to enjoy my late afternoon walks, I am going to ask God to show me the path that he wants me to take.
