Friends Who Are Family
Last week one of my dearest friends, Felicia, was visiting from the US. I was so happy to see Felicia. She and I have known each other since 2008 when we were City Fellows at Goldman Sachs. Felicia is definitely my sister. She loves me but she has no problems giving me tough love. We joked, laughed, reminisced, and encouraged each other to live. We ate good Turkish food and some of my cooking. She was teasing me and my world famous Mac and cheese which she still ate :-) In today’s world where the news headlines are dominated with doom and gloom, it was a nice feeling to realise that we are still surrounded by love. Even though we are separated by the Atlantic Ocean, when we see each other it is as if we have we are next door neighbours. The time was too short but I am forever grateful for the time that we spend. Looking forward to us catching up soon. It was what I needed to push through a busy week at work while staying home and watching Chloe who has been sick since Tuesday. As always, I look at the bright side. At least Chloe was able to stay home instead of the hospital. So cheers to friends who are family and their perfect timing when they show up.
