Art Celebration Continues

One of the many benefits of living in London is that I have access to some of the best museums in the world. As a proud member of the Tate; I made a commitment to attend at least one exhibition a month. Sometimes I go with my family, friends, or by myself. So far I have checked out Yayoi Kusama’s Infnity Mirrors Rooms. Due to popularity this exhibition has been extended to April 2024. Even as a member; I still had to book tickets in advance because it is so popular. Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese contemporary artist who has been acknowledged as one of the most import living artists to come out of Japan; the world’s top selling female artist, and the world’s most successful living artist. Kusama has been open about her mental health and has resided since the 1970s in a mental health facility which she leaves daily to walk to her nearby studio to work. She says that art has become her way to express her mental problems and has saved her life. So far, I have visited twice and will likely book again before it ends. I am realising how important art is. My goal is to make art my accessible to those less fortunate because art can transform lives by exposing our people’s perspectives and in some cases promoting courageous conversations. Look out for the many exhibitions that I will write about and hopefully it will encourage you to make the time to explore and support art.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
