Next Generation Matters

Last month, I participated in a fireside chat with a remarkable group of young ladies from the Amos Bursary. The Amos Bursary is an organisation that strives to increase and strengthen the pipeline of Britain’s talented young people of Black African and Caribbean heritage to create a more diverse workforce. It was so amazing to be with some of my Link sisters from the London (UK) chapter of the The Links, Incorporated as part of our Services To The Youth initiative. It is so important for us to provide safe spaces to have conversations that inform, empower, and encourage the next generation to dream big. We covered imposter syndrome, mental health, and the importance of community and network. The fireside chat was a success because we instilled hope in the next generation and reminded them that life will be challenging but nothing is impossible as long as they put in the work and to keep the faith. We hope that this will be one of many fireside chats that we host because it is so important for us to support the next generation.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
