Moms Just Want to Have Fun

A few weeks ago, I went out with my local mummy group. It was so nice to get dressed up, eat a nice meal, drink sparkling wine, laugh, and manage to catch the last train home. As a working parent; you feel like you are on a treadmill where you are trying to manage an evolving book of work, be present for your family, and carve out some time to remember that life is also meant to let your hair down and have fun. It was nice to talk about everything under the sun such as current events, latest gossip in pop culture and tips on how to maintain your sanity when you feel stretched. As someone who doesn’t have family nearby, I am forever grateful for the community that I found as a new parent during lockdown in my neighbourhood. Special shout out to my friend, Mariza, who was the force behind me getting to know these ladies. During lockdown when we could meet people from other bubbles, she was the first person I hung out with. She saw one of the moms in the group and immediately made sure that we exchanged numbers and the rest was history. We hosted joint birthday parties, attend each other’s birthdays when possible, and for the past three years organised holiday parties for our kids who participate in Secret Santa. Ultimately, life is about making connections and enjoying experiences. I am grateful for the opportunities when they come and will make sure that I continue to make it happen because ultimately we all just want to have some fun.

I make a living working in the City of London in banking. For fun I love to read, run, visit spas, and spend time with my family and friends. I believe that each of us holds power in our words and can be whatever we want to be so long as we make the commitment to work on it. I love to tell and share stories.
