1-54 Art Fair
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the 1-54 Art Fair at Somerset House in London specifically on the VIP and Press Day. Special shout out to my friend who made that happen. This was my first time going to the event. As a self identified art explorer and art lover who hopes to build an extensive art collection, I had so much fun. 1-54 is the first and only international art fair dedicated to contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora. There are three editions per year in London, New York, and Marrakech. There is also an annual pop up fair in Paris. The Financial Times wrote that 1-54 is the leading voice for African modern and contemporary art worldwide. The fair ended on Sunday, 13th October 2024. It was great to see my friend, Sadie Sherman, who is the Art Director at Tafeta. She is truly killing it in the art game. She made sure that Tafeta’s exhibition featured female artists. I ended the night bumping into Kojo, Founder of My Runway Group, who I have known for several years. It is great to see his company grow tremendously and build strong relationships with institutions such as Somerset House. I encourage you to check it out in the other cities or make sure to check it out in London when it returns next year. It is definitely, on my bucket list to attend the one in Marrakech.
